"Brian Cookson added he also confirmed night-time rider testing is now taking place. "The night controls are allowed now under the WADA code and UCI regulations. I can confirm that a small number of controls have taken place during the night and the possibility remains that they might continue. No team or rider can rest easy if they think they are using that window for micro-dosing, there is a very strong possibility that they might get a knock on the door in the middle of the night."
Dave Brailsford : “For sure it will have an impact on performance but there’s a trade off there. The sport being where it is at the moment I think it’s a trade off that we should be willing to take. Ultimately it would be a shame if the big races were determined by sleep deprivation rather than by the best rider in the race but if that’s what we’ve got to do, then that’s what we’ve got to do.”
